Ensuring quality water: a major challenge for the 21st century
Ensuring and improving water quality is a major challenge in the 21st century, which the United Nations has taken up with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Structurally, health risks are present at every level in a drinking water distribution network: ageing pipes, widespread use of chemicals in the industry, accidents and terrorist risks.
- For 42% of French people, water quality is the most worrying environmental issue
- 996,000 km of drinking water distribution network in France
A local health issue for network managers
Water is subject to multiple sources of deterioration while being transported that can affect its quality. Public companies or drinking water distributors in charge of public water networks, managers of industrial or commercial areas are responsible for the quality of drinking water throughout its cycle. Monitoring water quality is a health objective of prime importance.
Securing water supplies for major events
The security of drinking water becomes crucial during large-scale political, cultural and sporting events. These large gatherings must be secured to prevent any risk of contamination (whether deliberate or not) of drinking water which could affect health or the environment. This is the responsibility of public drinking water companies and distributors. They are the guarantors, alongside the host cities, of the health and safety of the area’s water network, and must ensure the safety of the water at major events hosting the public.
With KAPTA™: measure, control and optimise drinking water networks
Through its Swiss subsidiary Neroxis, Birdz has designed a monitoring system that continuously ensures the quality of water distributed, thanks to its Kapta™ probe. The performance of this solution is based on a patented multi-parameter measurement system that is connected, energy independent and totally secure.
KAPTA™ includes customised water quality measurements on key parameters such as chlorine, turbidity, pressure, conductivity and temperature. The KAPTA™ system is simple and reliable, with an unrivalled lifespan, requiring no maintenance and operating without energy or chemical reagents. It is approved by the authorities and is part of the 2017 version of the ORSEC Water plan.
KAPTA probes are available with 2 measurement ranges:
- AC probe measurements: Chlorine, Conductivity, Pressure, Temperature
- OT probe measurements: Turbidity, Organic matter, Temperature
